    Winter Breaks Extended in Schools Nationwide Due to Cold Wave

    New Delhi, January 10, 2025: Due to the ongoing cold wave, several states and schools across India have extended their winter vacation schedules for 2025. In Jammu and Kashmir, schools will remain closed until February 28 for classes up to grade 12, as announced by the Minister of School Education, Sakina Itoo. Himachal Pradesh has declared winter vacations for schools from January 1 to February 11, 2025. Similarly, Uttar Pradesh has announced holidays for schools in cities like Ghaziabad, Agra, Mathura, and Lucknow until January 11-14, 2025, with online classes continuing for higher classes in Lucknow.

    Other states, including Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Telangana, have also declared extended breaks. In Bihar, all schools up to class 8 will remain closed until January 11. Haryana’s winter vacation spans from January 1 to 15, 2025, for both private and government schools. Jharkhand has announced holidays for schools up to class 8 until January 13, 2025. In Telangana, the Board of Intermediate Education has declared Sankranti holidays for Intermediate students from January 11-16, 2025. These extensions are in response to the intense cold wave affecting several parts of the country.
