In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the state’s first double-decker electric bus service on Saturday, marking a significant step toward enhancing public transportation. The event was held as part of the state government’s broader efforts to improve conveyance facilities for the public. The double-decker electric bus service is expected to offer an eco-friendly and efficient mode of transport in the state.
During the inauguration, CM Yogi announced a special 50% discount on tickets for women traveling on the double-decker electric bus. Additionally, he introduced a provision for free travel for women on services operating along the heritage route every Saturday morning. The move is seen as a part of the government’s efforts to promote women’s empowerment and provide better access to public transport.
CM Yogi took to social media to share the development, expressing his appreciation for the event. He congratulated women and recognized the efforts of the Aakanksha Committee and the Urban Development Department, which played a role in the initiative. “Hearty congratulations to the women power and greetings to the Aakanksha Committee and the Urban Development Department!” he wrote in a post on X.
The launch of the double-decker electric bus service is part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader plans to modernize its public transport system, reduce pollution, and enhance the overall travel experience for the people of the state.
