Hanoi, April 15, 2025: Chinese President Xi Jinping, during his visit to Vietnam, called for both nations to stand against “unilateral bullying” and work together to preserve the global free trade system. He stressed the need to resist protectionism and protect supply chains in the face of growing global trade challenges. Xi’s remarks were made during talks with Vietnamese President Lương Cường and Communist Party General Secretary Tô Lâm.
The call for collaboration comes as the United States has imposed heavy tariffs on Vietnamese goods, including a 46% tariff on specific products. In response, Vietnam is balancing its relations with both China and the U.S., aiming to safeguard its economic interests amid the evolving global trade tensions.
