Washington, D.C., April 12, 2025 – The White House has replaced Barack Obama’s portrait in the Grand Foyer with a new painting of Donald Trump, depicting him after the July 2024 assassination attempt. The artwork, showing Trump with a bloodied ear and raised fist, was created by artist Marc Lipp and donated by school safety advocate Andrew Pollack.
This move departs from tradition, which typically features the two most recent presidents. With Joe Biden’s portrait pending, Obama’s has been moved across the hall, and George W. Bush’s near his father’s. The White House announced the update on X, calling it “Some new artwork at the White House.”
