Mumbai, February 27, 2025 – In a unique marketing move, Dharmendra’s image was prominently featured on the posters of Amitabh Bachchan’s 1974 film Benaam, despite him not being part of the film. Producer Ranjit Virk, Dharmendra’s cousin-in-law, used his star power to attract audiences, as Amitabh was yet to become a superstar.
Directed by Narendra Bedi, Benaam was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s The Man Who Knew Too Much. It starred Moushumi Chatterjee, Madan Puri, and Helen alongside Amitabh and was later remade in Kannada as Thirugu Baana.
