Cupertino, April 8, 2025 – WhatsApp is testing a new privacy feature on iOS that blocks automatic media saving from locked chats to the device’s gallery. This move aims to give users greater control over their private content and enhance security for sensitive conversations.
The feature is part of WhatsApp’s broader privacy initiative and builds on the existing Chat Lock function, which secures chats using Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. Users will still have the option to manually save media from locked chats if they choose. The feature is currently available to select beta testers and may roll out to all iOS users soon.
