Vijayawada, February 19, 2025: Railway police seized 107 kg of illegally transported silver from the GT Express last night. The silver, which was being transported from Agra to Vijayawada without proper bills, was confiscated during routine inspections by the railway police. Upon checking, officials discovered that the consignment lacked valid documentation, prompting immediate action.
According to Railway CI J.V. Ramana, the seized silver is estimated to be worth over ₹1 crore. The confiscated silver ornaments have been handed over to GST officials for further investigation. Authorities are now probing the source and intended destination of the illegal consignment.
