Amritsar, February 5: A US military aircraft carrying 104 deported illegal Indian migrants landed at Amritsar’s Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport. The deportees hailed from Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chandigarh. Authorities are checking the criminal backgrounds of the deportees, with individuals found to have criminal records being arrested at the airport.
This deportation is part of a crackdown on illegal immigration under US President Donald Trump’s administration. The deportees were accompanied by US officials, and security at Amritsar airport was increased. The deportation is tied to broader discussions between India and the US, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Washington.
