Washington, May 31, 2025 – US Defence Secretary Michael Hegseth emphasized the importance of expanding security partnerships with India during a press briefing held at the Pentagon. He highlighted India’s crucial role in maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific region and stressed the need for closer collaboration between the two nations to address emerging security challenges. Secretary Hegseth reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to deepening defence ties and joint military exercises with India.
In addition, Hegseth advocated for strengthening cooperation within the QUAD alliance, which includes the US, India, Japan, and Australia. He underscored that enhanced QUAD collaboration is vital to counterbalance regional threats and promote a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
