Beijing [China], March 5, 2025: In response to the United States’ recent tariff hikes on Chinese imports, China has imposed retaliatory tariffs of up to 15% on key U.S. agricultural products such as wheat, corn, and chicken. Additionally, a 10% tariff has been placed on soybeans, pork, beef, and other food products, effective March 10, 2025. This move signals China’s readiness to counter what it sees as economic coercion from the U.S.
Beyond tariffs, China has expanded export controls and blacklisted more U.S. firms as part of its broader strategy to push back against American trade policies. Officials assert that China will not be pressured by U.S. actions, raising concerns over disruptions to global supply chains and economic stability as tensions between the two economic powers escalate.
