Berlin, April 11, 2025 — Thorsten Benner, Director of the Global Public Policy Institute, has called on Europe to transform its current geopolitical and economic challenges into an opportunity—or Sambhavna, a Sanskrit term meaning possibility. Speaking at a policy forum, Benner emphasized that the continent must rethink its strategic autonomy, especially amid rising global tensions and shifting alliances.
He urged European leaders to leverage innovation, democratic resilience, and global partnerships to turn adversity into strength. By embracing reforms and a long-term vision, Benner said Europe can play a more assertive role on the world stage and shape a multipolar order grounded in cooperation and values.
