New Delhi, February 18: Tesla has begun hiring in India shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Elon Musk in Washington, DC, on February 13. The company has posted 13 job openings in Mumbai, covering vehicle service, sales, customer support, and business operations. This move follows India’s decision to cut customs duty on high-end cars, potentially easing Tesla’s entry into the Indian market.
During the US visit, Musk met PM Modi along with top Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated that discussions covered innovation, AI, space exploration, and sustainable development. While Musk has hinted at launching an affordable Tesla in India, no concrete steps have been taken yet.
