New Delhi, May 28, 2025 – Tejasvi Surya, a member of the all-party delegation visiting Pakistan, has stated that Pakistan is in a precarious economic situation with “nothing to lose,” heavily reliant on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for financial support. Surya highlighted that Pakistan’s dependence on IMF’s aid creates a fragile economic environment, making it vulnerable to external pressures and economic instability. According to him, this dependency affects Pakistan’s political and strategic decisions significantly.
Surya’s comments came amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to engage with Pakistan on various bilateral issues. He emphasized that Pakistan’s current economic challenges and reliance on international financial institutions reflect the deeper structural problems within the country. Surya urged for a cautious approach in dealing with Pakistan, considering its delicate situation and potential impacts on regional stability.
