Tamil Nadu Risks Losing 8 Lok Sabha Seats: CM Stalin Urges Fair Delimitation Process

Chennai, February 25, 2025: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has scheduled an all-party meeting for March 5, 2025, to discuss concerns over the upcoming Lok Sabha delimitation process. Stalin expressed worry that the state’s population control measures could result in fewer parliamentary seats. He emphasized the importance of a unified response from the state’s 40 registered political parties to address the issue.

Stalin warned that Tamil Nadu may lose up to eight Lok Sabha seats if the delimitation process is based solely on population figures. He argued that the state’s achievements in education, healthcare, and family planning should not lead to reduced representation in Parliament. The Chief Minister called for a fair and balanced approach in the delimitation process to ensure adequate representation for Tamil Nadu.
