
Omdurman, Sudan, February 26, 2025—A Sudanese military transport plane crashed in Omdurman, near Khartoum, killing at least 46 people and injuring 10. The Antonov aircraft crashed during takeoff from the Wadi Seidna air base, with both military personnel and civilians among the casualties. The incident occurred amidst Sudan’s ongoing conflict with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The crash caused damage to several houses and power outages in the Karrari district. Residents reported explosions and thick smoke. The plane was reportedly heading to Port Sudan, but the military has not confirmed if it was carrying high-ranking officers. The crash underscores Sudan’s ongoing aviation safety challenges amid the civil war.
