NMC Issues Show Cause Notices to Medical Colleges Over Stipend Reporting Lapses
New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued show cause notices to medical colleges that failed to provide details regarding stipends paid to interns and residents. The commission warned institutions that their non-compliance could result in penal action.
In its notification, the NMC highlighted the seriousness of the issue and released a list of government and private medical colleges that have yet to furnish the required stipend information.
The official statement from the NMC read:
“It is observed that the requisite data is still to be furnished by many colleges on the provided email IDs. The failure of these medical colleges in submitting the information regarding the payment of stipends to interns/residents is considered a serious matter. The listed colleges are hereby directed to show cause as to why penal action should not be taken against them for their failure to submit the stipend details.”
The NMC’s move emphasizes its commitment to ensuring transparency and compliance with regulations regarding the financial welfare of medical students. Colleges have been instructed to respond promptly to avoid further action.
