Amaravati, December 3, 2024 – The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allocation of Rs 11,000 crore for the development of various infrastructure projects aimed at constructing the state’s capital city, Amaravati. The funding is a crucial step in revitalizing the region, which has faced delays in its development due to various challenges over the past few years. This new investment will focus on enhancing essential services like water management, sanitation, and waste disposal systems in the city.
In addition to the state’s contribution, the Andhra Pradesh government has secured around Rs 15,000 crore from multilateral agencies, including the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. These funds will be directed toward completing Phase-1 of the capital city’s construction, which includes vital infrastructure and urban development projects.
A significant portion of the new Rs 11,000 crore funding, amounting to Rs 3,000 crore, will be used for infrastructure development in Amaravati. The goal is to transform the city into a world-class urban hub that can attract investment, jobs, and people, while promoting sustainable living through its blue and green city planning principles.
This funding initiative is part of a broader strategy by the state government to modernize urban infrastructure across Andhra Pradesh. The government has also allocated resources to improve urban facilities in other key cities such as Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Guntur, aiming to uplift living standards throughout the state.
