Colombo, February 4, 2025 – Sri Lankan President Dissanayake called for national unity as the key to achieving economic freedom, in his address at the 77th Independence Day celebrations. Highlighting the importance of collective effort, he stressed that overcoming the country’s economic challenges requires all sectors of society to work together. President Dissanayake emphasized that Sri Lanka must focus on self-sufficiency, innovation, and sustainable growth to ensure a prosperous future for its people.
The President also touched on the need for reforms in governance and socio-economic structures, encouraging citizens to actively participate in the nation-building process. He celebrated Sri Lanka’s achievements since gaining independence and urged the population to maintain a spirit of resilience and determination in the face of global uncertainties.
