    Southwest Monsoon Covers Andhra Pradesh, Telangana; Cyclone Likely Over Bay of Bengal

    Visakhapatnam, May 28, 2025 – The southwest monsoon has fully covered Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with a low-pressure system over the northwest Bay of Bengal expected to intensify into a cyclone within 24 hours. This development is likely to bring scattered to heavy rainfall across the North and South Coastal Andhra regions for about a week, according to meteorological officials.

    Strong winds of 40-50 km/h are forecast along the Andhra coast over the next two days, accompanied by heavy to very heavy rains in districts such as Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Alluri, and Kakinada. In the last 24 hours, Tekkal recorded the highest rainfall of 14 cm, highlighting the increasing intensity of the monsoon in the region.
