SC Warns Against Midway Changes in Govt Job Recruitment Rules

SC on Government Job Recruitment Process:

The Supreme Court has clarified that the rules of the government job recruitment process should not be changed midway. A key statement was made by a five-judge bench, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, on Thursday morning. The court emphasized that once the recruitment process is initiated, the regulations set at the start cannot be altered midway.

The court further highlighted that the recruitment process should not be one-sided and must comply with Article 14 of the Constitution, which ensures fairness and equality. It stressed the need for transparency in the recruitment process to maintain public trust.

The apex court also noted that any changes to the rules mid-process could lead to confusion and unrest among candidates. Such alterations might cause unnecessary anxiety for applicants who are already part of the ongoing process, potentially undermining the integrity of the entire procedure.

In conclusion, the Supreme Court underscored the importance of consistency in recruitment rules and the need to follow fair and transparent procedures, free from discrimination. This ensures that candidates are not subjected to unexpected changes that could affect their chances of selection.
