New Delhi, April 5, 2025 – Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the Maritime Awareness Walkathon in New Delhi on the 62nd National Maritime Day. He praised India’s advancements in the maritime sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, positioning the country as a global leader in maritime trade.
Sonowal highlighted the theme of this year’s celebration, ‘Prosperous Seas – Developed India & Youth for Blue Economy & Green Growth.’ He stressed the importance of Indian seafarers in global trade and the need for a strong maritime sector to support India’s goal of becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ through the blue economy and sustainable growth.
