Reliance Energy to Invest ₹65,000 Crore in Andhra Pradesh for Clean Energy Project

Reliance Energy Investment RS 65000 Crore in AP for Clean Energy Project : Reliance Energy is set to invest ₹65,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh for a clean energy project, marking another significant step in the state’s industrial growth. This investment was made possible through discussions led by Minister N. Lokesh, who played a key role in securing the deal. The agreement will be formalized in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Lokesh’s recent trip to the US and his meeting with Reliance executives in Mumbai were pivotal in facilitating this investment. After Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh is the second state where Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is committing such a large-scale investment.

Reliance plans to establish 500 state-of-the-art bio-gas plants in Andhra Pradesh as part of the clean energy initiative. Minister Lokesh and Anant Ambani, the head of Reliance Clean Energy, had earlier discussed the project in Mumbai, where Lokesh highlighted the Andhra Pradesh government’s focus on green and clean energy. The discussions led to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Reliance Industries and the state’s Industries Department, signaling a commitment to further investments in the state.

The industry sector in Andhra Pradesh has expressed enthusiasm over the potential of Reliance’s investments, particularly in terms of job creation. These investments are expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for around 2.5 lakh people in the state. Lokesh, who also chairs the Employment Sub-Committee, has already secured other major investments, including ₹40,000 crore in the solar and wind energy sectors by Tata Power.

This is part of a broader push by the state government to attract significant industrial investments. Recently, steel giant ArcelorMittal also confirmed an investment of ₹1.4 lakh crore in the state via a video conference. The Reliance investment is expected to bolster the state’s clean energy sector, creating opportunities for sustainable growth while addressing environmental concerns.
