Ragging at Rayalaseema University – Junior was made to run on the ground and beaten at midnight

Seniors Attack on Junior in Rayalaseema University, Kurnool District: Fights between students in colleges often escalate into physical altercations, leading to injuries or even loss of life. We frequently see incidents where classmates split into groups and fight, or old grudges turn into life-threatening conflicts. Disputes often arise in colleges over small issues like not addressing seniors as “Sir” or not greeting them, or because juniors resist listening to seniors. Despite strict anti-ragging regulations, these incidents continue to happen discreetly in some colleges and universities, as evidenced by conflicts between senior and junior students. A recent incident at Rayalaseema University has brought this issue to light once again.

Fight Between Students in Campus: At Rayalaseema University in Kurnool, 15 senior students attacked Sunil, an engineering student. Citing past incidents as a reason, several seniors, under the pretext of an introductory session, assaulted the student on Thursday at midnight. They made him run on the sports ground and then beat him mercilessly. Severely injured, Sunil was taken by fellow students to the Kurnool Government Hospital for treatment. The police have registered a case regarding the incident and initiated an investigation.

Despite the presence of a police station just a short distance from the college, many are expressing anger over the escalation of the conflict to such levels. While some believe that the attack was due to old grievances, the actual details will only be known after the investigation. The police have stated that they will provide complete information following the inquiry. Officials have assured that they will take measures to prevent such incidents from recurring. The college management condemned the behavior of seniors towards junior students in the campus and stated that appropriate actions will be taken against them. In the meantime, doctors have reported that the injured student is in good health.
