Guwahati, April 3, 2025 – The Assam government has taken a significant step toward preserving indigenous cultures by introducing three tribal languages into the school curriculum. This initiative aims to promote linguistic diversity and ensure that tribal students can learn in their native languages. The selected languages will be taught in government schools as part of an effort to preserve and strengthen Assam’s rich tribal heritage.
The move is expected to benefit thousands of students belonging to indigenous communities, fostering a deeper connection with their cultural roots. The Assam government has also planned teacher training programs and the development of textbooks in these languages to facilitate smooth implementation.
