New Delhi, December 4, 2024: President Droupadi Murmu visited Puri, Odisha, where she offered prayers at the iconic Lord Jagannath Temple. This visit marked her first trip to the state since assuming office in July 2024. Demonstrating her devotion, President Murmu walked two kilometers to reach the temple, accompanied by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Her visit attracted large crowds of devotees lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the President.
In honor of her visit, the Odisha state government declared a half-day holiday for offices, schools, and colleges in the region. Extensive security measures were implemented to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the visit. The event underscored President Murmu’s deep respect for Odisha’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
