Bhubaneswar, January 10, 2025: President Droupadi Murmu arrived at Janta Maidan in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to attend the valedictory session of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention and present the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards. She was accompanied by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers K.V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The event celebrated the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora to India’s growth and global image.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention, India’s flagship event for engaging with its diaspora, took place in collaboration with the Odisha government from January 8 to 10, 2025. This year’s theme, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” highlights the critical role of the Indian diaspora in India’s vision for 2047. The convention attracted participants from over 50 countries, emphasizing the global reach and influence of the Indian community.
