PoGB Unrest: Diamer-Bhasha Dam Protest Enters 42nd Day, Tensions Escalate

Gilgit, March 29: The sit-in protest against the Diamer-Bhasha Dam in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB) has entered its 42nd day, with no resolution in sight. Protesters in Chilas demand 80% of the dam’s royalty, free electricity for Diamer, and discounted rates for PoGB, vowing to halt construction until their concerns are addressed.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and PoGB, Amir Muqam, has urged protest leaders to engage in talks, but negotiations have failed so far. Construction has been stalled for 15 days, and leaders warn of intensified protests after Eid if their demands remain unmet.
