Uttarkashi, February 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Jadung-Jankattal and Neelapani-Mulingna pass tracks during his visit to Mukhba, the winter seat of Gangotri Dham, on February 27. The move aims to boost adventure tourism in the Nelang and Jadung valleys, which were restricted after the 1962 India-China war but are now being developed similar to Ladakh.
As part of the Vibrant Village Yojana, home stays are being built to resettle Nelang and Jadung villages. Tourism Secretary Sachin Kurve reviewed preparations in Mukhba and Harshil, directing officials to decorate the Gangotri temple and ensure smooth coordination with local authorities for the prime minister’s visit.
