    PM Modi’s Thailand, Sri Lanka Tour: Strengthening Regional Ties and Energy Cooperation

    New Delhi, March 28, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Thailand from April 2 to 4 to attend the sixth BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok. The summit, under Thailand’s chairmanship, will focus on strengthening regional cooperation among its seven member countries, with an emphasis on economic growth and resilience under the BIMSTEC Bangkok Vision 2030. Key agenda points include the future direction of BIMSTEC and the adoption of the Summit Declaration.

    Following the summit, Modi will visit Sri Lanka from April 4 to 6, marking his fourth trip to the country. During the visit, he is expected to inaugurate a solar power plant in Trincomalee, reinforcing India’s support for renewable energy in the region. The trip follows Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s visit to India in December 2024, where key discussions included maritime security, the rights of Tamils, and energy cooperation.
