    PM Modi’s Cabinet Approves 12.4 km Ropeway Project to Boost Hemkund Sahib Connectivity

    New Delhi, March 5, 2025: The Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved a 12.4 km ropeway project from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib Ji in Uttarakhand under the National Ropeways Development Programme (Parvatmala Pariyojana). The project aims to enhance connectivity to the pilgrimage site, benefiting both locals and visitors by improving accessibility and boosting tourism in the region.

    Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal supported the initiative, highlighting its potential to enhance infrastructure and provide economic opportunities in Uttarakhand. The ropeway will reduce travel time, improve safety, and contribute to the overall development of the region’s tourism sector, marking a significant step toward better connectivity in the Himalayan region.
