PM Modi to Inaugurate ₹284 Crore Eco-Friendly Projects at Statue of Unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a series of development projects valued at ₹284 crore at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on October 30, 2024. This initiative is part of the broader strategy to promote sustainable infrastructure in the region, particularly around the iconic Statue of Unity, which has become a major tourist and cultural attraction.

    Key Projects to be Inaugurated

    1. New Sub-District Hospital: A newly constructed sub-district hospital will enhance healthcare access for Ekta Nagar’s residents and visitors, aiming to provide quality medical services and support the health needs of the growing number of tourists.
    2. Electric Buses and Smart Bus Stops: The Prime Minister will introduce 30 new electric buses and several “smart” bus stops as part of efforts to promote eco-friendly transportation. The buses will reduce emissions, contributing to sustainable tourism, while smart bus stops are designed to offer conveniences like real-time arrival updates.
    3. Solar Power Project: A new 4 MW solar power plant is set to be launched, underscoring the government’s commitment to renewable energy. This project will generate clean energy for Ekta Nagar, aligning with India’s climate goals by decreasing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
    4. Eco-Friendly Tourism Initiatives: Various other eco-friendly projects are set to be unveiled, aimed at making Ekta Nagar a more sustainable destination. These projects aim to integrate green energy, sustainable transport, and local job creation, enhancing both the visitor experience and regional economic growth.

    Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Celebrations

Following the inauguration, PM Modi will lead the celebrations of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31. The event marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s “Iron Man,” and will feature a parade, demonstrations by the Border Security Force (BSF) and state police contingents, and special performances by women bikers. An Indian Air Force fly-past is also planned, symbolizing national unity and strength.

This combination of infrastructural projects and the National Unity Day celebration reflects the government’s focus on sustainable development and promoting the legacy of Sardar Patel. Through these initiatives, the government aims to make Ekta Nagar a prominent model of eco-friendly tourism and a beacon of national pride.

These developments come as part of PM Modi’s larger vision to transform Gujarat’s Statue of Unity area into a significant cultural and environmental hub, attracting domestic and international tourists while preserving local resources and supporting the economy.
