
Colombo, April 5, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a ceremonial welcome in Colombo as he began his official visit to Sri Lanka. The event, held at the Presidential Secretariat, featured a guard of honour and cultural performances, attended by Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and other dignitaries, symbolising the close relationship between the two countries.

In his address, PM Modi thanked the Sri Lankan leadership for the warm hospitality and reaffirmed India’s commitment to enhancing bilateral ties. He highlighted key areas of cooperation including trade, energy, connectivity, and cultural exchange, with the visit set to include high-level discussions aimed at regional progress and mutual development.
