
Sasan, March 3, 2025: On World Wildlife Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Gir Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat’s Junagadh district for a lion safari. After staying overnight at Sinh Sadan, he embarked on the safari with ministers and senior forest officials. He will also chair the seventh meeting of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) at Sasan Gir.
The government has allocated ₹2,900 crore for Project Lion to protect Asiatic lions in Gujarat. Additionally, a National Referral Center for Wildlife, a high-tech monitoring center, and a wildlife hospital have been established in Sasan. Modi also visited Vantara, an animal rescue and rehabilitation center in Jamnagar.
