    Piyush Goyal Emphasizes Ports & Logistics as Pillars of India’s Economic Growth

    Mumbai, February 26, 2025—Union Minister Piyush Goyal stressed the significance of ports, shipping, and logistics in boosting India’s economy at the 12th Biennial International Conference on Ports, Shipping & Logistics 2025. He highlighted the need to enhance vessel flagging in India and improve maritime efficiency, as 95% of the country’s trade volume is handled through its 7,500 km coastline.

    Goyal also met with MSC CEO Soren Toft to explore investment opportunities in inland container terminals, shipbuilding, and container manufacturing. Their discussions focused on strengthening India’s maritime competitiveness through deep-sea vessel partnerships and policy reforms, fostering innovation and self-reliance.
