Pawan Kalyan Accuses Jagan Mohan Reddy of Deceiving Village Volunteers
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan accused Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy of deceiving village volunteers, stating that no official instructions had been issued by the government, leaving them unable to perform their duties. In a meeting with Sarpanch leaders in Mangalagiri, Kalyan addressed concerns raised by the Sarpanch associations, including bringing village secretariat staff under the purview of the Panchayat system, and assured the integration of staff to strengthen local governance.
Kalyan discussed his plans for improving rural development, including planting trees on a large scale for self-sufficiency. He emphasized that the government would address financial needs of Panchayats through revenue from wood sales and announced the construction of community halls and training centers for Sarpanch leaders in Amaravati. Kalyan also pointed out the direct transfer of financial resources to Panchayat accounts under the current government.
He criticized the previous administration for withholding funds for projects between 2014-2019 and revealed that pending funds would be released after cabinet approval. Kalyan also assured that the Panchayats would receive another Rs. 750 crore soon, underlining the commitment to rural development. He lauded the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu for the progress made in strengthening Panchayats.
Kalyan also questioned the existence of the village volunteer scheme, accusing the Jagan government of misleading the public and not having any formal records regarding volunteers. He highlighted plans to provide drinking water to every village under the Jal Jeevan Mission and vowed to combat corruption in the Panchayat Raj system.
