Over 10,000 Acres of Forest Land Eyed for Development Around Amaravati: CRDA Initiative

Amaravati, April 5, 2025 – The CRDA is moving ahead with plans to develop recreational and tourism hubs in areas surrounding Amaravati by acquiring forest land in Krishna and Guntur districts. About 10,000 acres have been identified for this purpose, with the authority opting for the diversion method—transferring forest land use while compensating with equivalent land elsewhere—as a more practical approach than full denotification.

The planned developments include a golf course in Kondapalli, a zoo, science city, sports academies, and tourism projects. Forest blocks across NTR, Krishna, Eluru, Guntur, and Palnadu districts have been surveyed, and data has been gathered from local forest officials. However, implementation of the project depends on approval from the central government, which had rejected similar proposals in 2016.
