After 57 years, two musicals, Wicked and Emilia Pérez, have earned nominations in 10 or more categories, with Emilia Pérez leading with 13 nods. Wicked made history by securing 10 nominations without a Best Director or Best Screenplay nod.
Directed by Jacques Audiard, Emilia Pérez also brought a milestone nomination for Carla Sofía Gascón, the first transgender actress in the Best Actress category. Additionally, Fernanda Torres, nominated for I Am Still Here, could become the first Brazilian actress to win an Oscar, marking a historic moment in the Academy Awards.
