Vijayawada, April 12, 2025 – The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has begun expanding the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam National Highway-65 (NH65) into a six-lane road. The 63-kilometer stretch will be upgraded, with 44 kilometers expanded to six lanes, and a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared.
Additionally, a 4-kilometer stretch from Machavaram Rice Mill will be widened to four lanes, and a new 3.7-kilometer road will link the rice mill to the port. NHAI is overseeing the construction, while the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is supervising work on the Ongole-Kattipudi Highway. Plans for the 19-kilometer stretch from Vijayawada’s Benz Circle to Challivendrapalem are still under review.
