NDA Govt Develops Railway Stations in AP: Many railway stations in the state still remain unclean, causing inconvenience to passengers due to the lack of proper facilities. Keeping this in mind, the NDA government has initiated efforts to transform the major railway stations. They are redesigning the primary stations in a magnificent way, similar to airports. The government is investing crores of rupees to undertake stunning constructions. The work is progressing rapidly to make these facilities available as soon as possible.
New Splendor for Railway Stations: With the goal of providing international-level facilities to railway passengers, the Central Government is modernizing railway stations across the country. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), it is transforming the railway stations in key cities, towns, and pilgrimage centers. As part of this, another 53 railway stations across the state are being modernized with an investment of ₹1397.4 crore. Earlier this year, in February, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of these stations, and officials have accelerated the work to provide better facilities to passengers.
Actions of the NDA Government: The Railway Department has released the master plans, entry designs, and construction styles for railway stations being developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). One of the major projects is the development of the Tirupati Railway Station, a prominent spiritual center, into a modern facility resembling an airport, with an investment of ₹300 crore. The design aims to be impressive, with relaxation rooms and AC dormitories for passengers. Additionally, the Tiruchanur Railway Station is being upgraded as a crossing station to manage the flow of pilgrims more effectively. Redevelopment work is also underway at Nellore Railway Station with an investment of ₹102 crore, and Rajahmundry Railway Station is being developed with an investment of ₹214 crore.
Ready Soon: The main railway stations are being developed with future needs in mind, expanding roads leading to the stations, and creating special pathways for pedestrians and parking areas. The stations are being designed to evoke a “wow” effect as soon as visitors step inside. Efforts are being made to ensure a pleasant atmosphere for passengers, with landscaping, greenery, local art, and cultural symbols. Additionally, stalls will be set up under the ‘One Station One Product’ scheme.
Airport-Style Upgrades: Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, rapid development work is underway at various stations across several districts. For example, Anakapalli Station has been allocated ₹27.10 crore, while Elamanchili Station has received ₹13.13 crore for improvements. Bhimavaram Station is being upgraded with an investment of ₹22.13 crore, and Mangalagiri Railway Station with ₹13.6 crore. Ongole Station is receiving ₹19.10 crore, and Kadapa Railway Station is undergoing redevelopment with ₹20.35 crore. There are also proposals to further develop Renigunta and Gudur railway stations. Additionally, a proposal has been submitted to upgrade Vijayawada Railway Station with a massive investment of ₹750 crore. Once these proposals are approved, work will commence to bring airport-like enhancements to these stations.
