Amaravati, April 7, 2025: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal to intervene following the recent hike in anti-dumping duties by the US on Indian shrimp exports. In a letter, Naidu emphasized that Andhra Pradesh, a major contributor to India’s seafood exports, especially shrimp, is facing serious economic repercussions that threaten the livelihoods of thousands of aqua farmers.
Naidu requested the Centre to initiate diplomatic efforts with the US for a possible rollback of the increased duties and also proposed financial aid measures, such as interest subsidies and export incentives, to support affected farmers. He warned that without swift action, the state’s rural economy could suffer long-term setbacks.
