Nagarkurnool Tunnel Rescue: Efforts Intensify as Teams Battle Water Seepage

Nagarkurnool, February 27, 2025 – Rescue efforts for eight trapped workers in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel have reached their sixth day. Teams are using gas and plasma cutters to dismantle the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and clear debris, while a damaged conveyor belt is being repaired to speed up operations. However, water seepage of 5,000 liters per minute and accumulated mud continue to pose challenges.

Rescue teams from the Army, Navy, NDRF, and SDRF are working round the clock to reach the trapped workers. Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that once the TBM is removed, a final attempt will be made to rescue the workers. NGRI experts are also assessing tunnel stability before proceeding further.
