Bengaluru, November 27, 2024 — The Anti-Corruption Forum, led by senior BJP leader N.R. Ramesh, has filed a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), alleging the misuse of over Rs 46,300 crore meant for road development under the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The complaint claims that despite these substantial funds being allocated over the last decade, Bengaluru’s roads remain in disrepair, plagued by potholes and poor construction.
Ramesh pointed out that the funds were mismanaged, with road conditions worsening instead of improving. He accused both serving and retired IAS officers of involvement in the alleged corruption and misallocation, naming 18 individuals in the complaint. Supporting the charges, Ramesh has submitted over 4,000 pages of documentation.
Furthermore, Ramesh noted that local contractors have become reluctant to participate in BBMP’s tenders due to widespread corruption, with out-of-state contractors stepping in. He has called for a full investigation to identify how the funds were spent and who benefited from the alleged misuse.
