
Naypyidaw, March 29: Myanmar is reeling from the impact of a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck on March 28, with the death toll surpassing 1,000. Amid ongoing rescue efforts, a 4.3-magnitude aftershock has added to the crisis, hampering relief operations.
The earthquake caused severe destruction, particularly in Mandalay, where buildings collapsed, and infrastructure suffered heavy damage. The tremors were also felt in neighboring Thailand, with casualties and structural damage reported in Bangkok. The Myanmar government has declared a state of emergency and is seeking international assistance for rescue and recovery.
