Pune: The Central Railway (CR) is set to receive its first Vande Metro (Namo Bharat Rapid Rail), which is likely to run on Mumbai-Pune route, said MLA from Pimpri Chinchwad Mahesh Landge. He added that the high-speed rail will significantly cut down the travel time between two cities in Maharashtra. The train is capable of facilitating 3,200 passengers travelling on the busy Mumbai-Pune route. Its launch will enhance the inter-city transport connectivity.
The Vande Metro train will run at a top speed of 130 km per hour, offering a fast and comfortable ride to commuters. The train is equipped with various passenger amenities such as a stretcher facility for medical emergencies, fully air-conditioned coaches, CCTV cameras, mobile, laptop charging points and unreserved compartments.
First Vande Bharat was launched in India
India got its first Vande Metro on September 16, which is a transportation revolution added to the nation’s history. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the services between Ahmedabad and Bhuj. The high-speed train will cover the 360-kilometre distance in 5 hours and 45 minutes, with the top speed of 110 kilometres per hour. It will stop at nine stations, and will depart from Bhuj at 5:05 am and reach Ahmedabad Junction at 10:50 am, said a The Economic Times report.
For passengers, regular service will begin from 17 September from Ahmedabad, with the total journey costing Rs 455. “While other metro trains cover only short distances, Vande Metro will link city centres to nearby cities on the outskirts,” the ministry said. It added that although the term ‘metro’ suggests an urban setting, Vande Metro has been designed with many modern improvements.
