NEW DELHI: The Modi government has taken a significant step in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of enhancing women’s participation in all areas of nation-building by approving the establishment of the first all-women battalion of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). This elite Mahila Battalion will take on crucial roles in securing the country’s critical infrastructure, including airports, metro rails, and providing VIP security as commandos.
The creation of the all-women battalion aligns with the growing emphasis on empowering women to actively contribute to the security sector, a traditionally male-dominated field. By incorporating women into such a critical role, the government aims to inspire more women to engage in national security and defense, ensuring their greater participation in safeguarding the nation.
This initiative marks a historic moment in the evolution of India’s security forces and is expected to be a game-changer for women in uniform, providing them with opportunities to serve at the forefront of national defense while helping to shape a more inclusive and progressive society.
