    MK Stalin Urges PM Modi for Central Support as Chennai Struggles with Cyclone Aftermath

    Chennai, December 3, 2024 — Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting the dispatch of a central team to assess the damages caused by Cyclone Michaung. Stalin emphasized the severe impact on communities, particularly in Chennai, where widespread rains and flooding have affected thousands of people.

    In his letter, Stalin requested an immediate relief fund of Rs 5,060 crore to aid restoration efforts across the state. He also assured that the state government is compiling a detailed report to assess the further financial needs required for recovery. The Chief Minister highlighted the resilience and unity of the people of Tamil Nadu as key factors in overcoming this challenge.

    Stalin has been actively visiting affected areas such as Kanthanchavadi and Bharathi Nagar, where he has distributed relief materials, including food and blankets. Additionally, he confirmed that schools and colleges will remain closed in several flood-affected regions. The Chief Minister remains committed to ensuring a swift and effective recovery process.
