Lucknow, December 26, 2024: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati has accused the Congress party of exhibiting “double standards” in its approach toward Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s legacy. Speaking at a press conference in Lucknow, Mayawati alleged that the Congress, despite professing respect for Ambedkar, has consistently sidelined his contributions to India’s Constitution and social justice.
“The Congress only uses Dr. Ambedkar’s name for political gains while failing to honor his ideals of equality and justice. Their actions have repeatedly disrespected the very principles he stood for,” she remarked.
Mayawati pointed out instances where Ambedkar’s contributions were undermined, including the lack of consistent efforts to promote policies benefiting Dalits and marginalized communities. She also criticized the Congress for failing to implement Ambedkar’s vision of an inclusive society during its tenure in power.
The BSP chief reiterated her party’s commitment to upholding Ambedkar’s ideals and addressing the needs of disadvantaged communities. She urged voters to recognize what she called the Congress’s “hollow promises” and support parties genuinely working for social justice.
This statement has sparked political debate, with Congress leaders refuting the allegations, claiming that they have always upheld Ambedkar’s principles in their policies and governance.
