New Delhi: Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, who is on a visit to India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House on Monday. The Maldivian President was accorded a ceremonial welcome and given a guard of honour in the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
Muizzu will hold discussions with PM Modi on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a Maldivian delegation, Maldivian president Muizzu arrived in India on Sunday evening. President Droupadi Murmu welcomed the visiting Maldivian dignitaries at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present on the occasion. Later, Muizzu paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial at Rajghat by laying a wreath.
Though Muizzu attended PM Modi’s oath-taking ceremony in June, it is his first bilateral visit to India.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called on President Muizzu on Sunday and exuded confidence that his talks with PM Modi will give a “new impetus” to “our friendly ties”.
