Narayanpur, December 12: An intense encounter is underway between security forces and Naxals at the Narayanpur-Dantewada border in Chhattisgarh. The operation, involving personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF), was launched after intelligence reports indicated the presence of Maoist cadres in the area. The confrontation began in the forested region near Thulthuli and Nendur villages, located in the Abhujmaad region, a known Maoist stronghold.
According to sources, security forces have seized a significant cache of weapons, including an AK-47 and an SLR, from the site. This ongoing operation is part of the state government’s sustained efforts to combat the Naxal insurgency in the Bastar region. The region has seen multiple such encounters in recent months, resulting in significant setbacks for the Maoist groups.
Authorities are cautious as details of the operation continue to emerge, and reinforcements have been sent to assist the forces. Over the past year, a series of security operations have led to the elimination of several Maoist fighters in the region, intensifying efforts to restore peace in this volatile part of Chhattisgarh.
