Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, November 27, 2024 – Maharashtra’s political future remains uncertain after the Mahayuti alliance secured a decisive victory in the state elections. The key issue now is the selection of the Chief Minister, with BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis seen as the likely candidate, although no official decision has been made yet.
Devendra Fadnavis, the current Deputy CM, confirmed that a decision on the new CM would be announced soon, as discussions among the leadership of BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP are ongoing.
While Fadnavis is the leading contender, Shiv Sena has expressed support for Eknath Shinde to continue as CM, citing his leadership during the campaign. Shinde’s camp is optimistic that his role in the victory will be acknowledged by the alliance leadership.
The final decision on who will become Chief Minister is expected soon, with the new government anticipated to be formed by December 2.
